On Monday and Thursday nights something intriguing is happening just off of Monroe Street in Greektown. As beats or notes strike out across the night sky amid a scenic deck view, you are truly reminded that there’s still intrigue and energy left in the heart of Detroit.
Thursday nights at Exodus are wild fun. The action kicks off at around 10:30 or 11 p.m. The typical fodder is dance friendly house beats. As people over-indulge in liquid sin, A-list DJ’s like Stacey Pullen please the crowd.
Techno nights at Exodus are an ideal place to catch up. But you better speak up. While there’s ample space to sit and lounge in the corner area, the aural attack coming from the jam-packed dance floor is enough to overwhelm softer speech.
The bar is a bit pricey, so this might be a wise night to play it conservative. The door fee, though, is quite reasonable — a mere $5. That’s even better when you consider you can park for free at the neighboring Motor City Casino structure.
The view is unbeatable. The cool air stretches out across the might stone arches to the South and West. And to the east, the glowing glass of the casino stretches skyward.
On Monday nights the electronic beats are exchanged for smooth jazz. Cover typically drops to $4. And there’s only a handful of people that slowly trickle in. If you want a more relaxed atmosphere, Monday night is your time at Exodus.
The only real downside about Mondays is that the band seems to start later and later every time. This week they played at around 12:30 a.m — pretty late for those who might have to work the next day. But it is typically well worth the wait.
For some good eats, check out local Greektown fare, like the burger joint across the street or Nikki’s just around the corner.
